I am hearing from clients on a regular basis how harmful they find social media. Many of my clients have disconnected. They tell me how they are constantly comparing themselves to others on a regular and since every one appears to be having a great time on Facebook, they often feel like there must be something wrong with them because their lives aren’t always fun. They also feel like they “should” be doing the same things their peers are doing even if they are not interested. It seems what started out as a great idea has started to have a significantly negative effect on people’s lives. If you are feeling like you are constantly feeling anxious or depressed after checking your Facebook for the 10th time, you might want to shut it down for a day or two and see if this lifts your mood.
